This finely worked figure depicts Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and the arts, seated on a lotus base. She plays the veena, whose end is shaped like a peacock, and wears a tall, richly decorated crown in front of a halo with foliage.
The brass has a warm golden-brown sheen; the jewellery, robe and instrument are engraved with many fine details.
