Wooden Shiva – hand-carved, seated

This hand-carved Shiva statue shows the Hindu god seated in a meditation pose. The calm, half-closed eyes and the third eye on the forehead give the figure a peaceful presence.

Typical attributes such as the snake (naga) on the shoulder, the crescent moon in the hair knot and the bead necklaces are finely worked. The back, with its long, carefully carved hair, is also richly detailed. The warm grain of the wood makes every figure a special piece.
